On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Los Angeles Angels named Arizona Diamondbacks executive Jerry DiPoto as the team’s new general manager. He replaces Tony Reagins, who remains with the team as a special assistant. I think this is a great hire for the Angels.

Before that series, in which the Red Sox won their first title in 86 years in four games, the high mark was another Game 7 — the 2002 World Series between San Francisco and the Los Angeles Angels.

Ricky Adams, a utility infielder on the Los Angeles Angels’ 1982 Western Division championship team, died Friday after a long battle with cancer. He was 52. The team said he died in Rancho Cucamonga. Adams was a first-round pick of the Houston Astros in 1977. He signed with the Angels in 1980 and went on to make his major league debut with them in September 1982.
