The streak had to stop eventually. After going 5-0 in their first 5 games of this interleague roadtrip, the Angels dropped the final game of the series to the Nationals 5-4 at the new Nationals Park. Ervin Santana didn’t have his usual good control, walking 5 batters. Santana hadn’t walked more than 3 in a game this year. He still managed to pitch a good game, giving up 4 runs in 6 innings, but was outdueled by Tim Redding and the Nationals’ bullpen. Jesus Flores had the game-winning hit for the Nats in the 9th.
Lastings Milledge got Washington on the board first with a 2-run shot in the first inning. RBI’s by Garry Matthews
