After a stellar 8 inning shutout performance at the Chicago White Sox on May 24th, Jered Weaver got knocked around last night against the Blue Jays as Toronto ran away with the game, 10-4. Weaver gave up 10 hits and 6 earned runs in 4 innings, to raise his ERA to a not-so-pleasant 4.69 and drop his win-loss record to 4-6. On the other side, Blue Jays’ right-hander Dustin McGowan won on the road for the first time in 6 starts this season, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) in 6 innings. McGowan is now 4-4.
For the Angels offensively, Torii Hunter had 3 hits and Casey Kotchman drove in 2 runs. It wasn’t enough against the Jays, however, as Lyle Overbay and Scott Rolen led the scoring for them. Overbay hit 2 home runs, one in the 2nd inning against Weaver, and one later in the 7th against reliever Justin Speier. Rolen is hitting over .300 as a Blue Jay, as he collected 3 more hits last night.
To sum it up, a night that was supposed to be a happy one for the Halos with David Eckstien coming back to Angel Stadium and Howie Kendrick returning to the Angels lineup, turned into a bitter disappointment for the home team.
